17 Months!

Well, I just typed a very long update, and of course my internet cut out when I went to post it, so this will be a shorter version!  The gist was that Ty has had a very eventful month, and is becoming a really independent little guy!  He...

- Dropped from 2 naps to 1 (not my choice...I'm going to miss 2 breaks a day!)
- Prefers to feed himself instead of being fed.  Uses a spoon pretty well, but realizes that using his hand to eat is a faster route!
- Climbs on everything and pulls up to stand.
- Standing is much more stable now, and can stand by himself for short periods of time
- Does shape sorters, and tests out shapes in all of the holes before finding the matching one.
- Does puzzles too, and tests out the pieces very patiently before finding the fit!
- We started an early reading program called "See and Learn", designed for children with Down syndrome. All of the program materials and lesson plans are available online to print for free. They start at this age by working on picture recognition, and matching pictures.  The next step will be to match pictures to words, but that won't be for quite a while!  He loves the program though, and is so attentive.  I'm so glad it's available to start this young!

Sorry for the shortened version, the first one was much more detailed! :)  Enjoy the end of your summer!!!
