I can't believe Ty will be ONE in less than a month!!! 11 months just sounds so old!
As always, the little guy is doing well. It's been a fairly quiet month with all of the snow days we've had at home! Ty likes looking at the snow out the window, and watching the dogs run around out there. We haven't ventured out to play at all, and probably won't anymore, since it's all turned to ice!
New things this month....Ty FINALLY got his first tooth!!!! He has been teething like a maniac for months, and has been waking up often throughout the night for the past few weeks (we're EXTREMELY TIRED!), and finally the little tooth emerged yesterday!!! I could feel it tapping on the spoon when I fed him, and sure enough, there it was! It's one of his front bottom teeth (which is actually unusual in kids with DS...their teeth usually don't follow the typical pattern), and I can feel the other tooth ready to pop through, too. He's going to be so cute with little bottom buck teeth! :-) Best news of all though, was that he actually slept through the night without waking up for the first time all month! I hope this doesn't happen with the rest of them!!!
As far as new skills, Ty has started clapping for pretty much everything, and is starting to wave "bye" to me in the morning. We've been working on sign language to help him communicate a little sooner, so we're just waiting for him to start using those now! He's also been working on crawling, which has not been fun!!! He can get and hold himself on all fours, he just refuses to! PT sessions have been a little frustrating because is so stubborn! (I wonder where he gets that from?!) He loves to stand though, and is starting to take little steps if he's holding on to someone. Eric built him a little 6 inch high bench for learning to sit at 90 degrees, and he stands right up from sitting like he's been doing it his whole life! He has his first appointment on the baby treadmill next week, and will do that a few times over our February breaks. I'm interested to see how he does! We would love for him to crawl, because it builds great core strength, but at this rate, it looks like he'll be walking first and crawling second! He's already a maniac zooming around the house in his walker...he's going to be a rascal once he is mobile. He goes straight for the cords and plugs, pulled the trash over twice last week, and has already figured out how to open cabinets and pull towels off of racks. Time to babyproof!!!
Well, that's about it in our lives right now! I do have a little request though...if you have any pictures of Ty that you don't think that we have, would you mind emailing them to me??? I am putting together a photobook on Snapfish of Ty's first year's pictures since they're all on the computer (it's a real book that they make using pictures that you upload), rather than a photo album with loose pictures), and I want to make sure I have all that I can get!!! Thanks so much!!!
Happy Valentine's Day!!!
